I have recently finished a second book and I’m in the process of having it published. It was very difficult for me to write some of the sections since it is a very candid, graphic and detailed account of my life. By now you have probably heard that my life story was also used as an episode of the old school, worldwide Christian radio program “Unshackled”.
The name of my new book is
“The Man I Was”
A Life Changed, Blessed And Used By God
The book follows my tragic story starting with my life of womanizing, adultery and divorce as a young musician playing in nightclubs and bars. Then it shows my self centered, workaholic lifestyle as a driven, high powered band director focused mainly on my career and my hobbies. It goes on to give an account of the tragic morning that my children and I found my wife dying in a wrecked car on our way to school; followed by the crushing discovery that she had been having a four year long affair due to my selfishness and preoccupation with other things.
Soon after her death I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior and asked him to use my gifts and talents for his purposes. The book then goes on to show the incredible and amazing ways that God has changed me, blessed me and used me beyond my wildest hopes or dreams! How he has given me a beautiful new wife and family, an outreach ministry for men and used me as a guest speaker in churches everywhere. It also describes how he allowed me to start a Christian school marching band which also became a wonderful outreach ministry. It concludes by showing how he has written two Christian books and produced eight Christian videos through me and uses me today as a band director to bless the children in four Christian schools. Many of the blessings seem too miraculous to have actually happened!
Self published books by unknown authors don’t usually sell well. With my first book I’ve given away five copies for every one I’ve sold, using it more as an outreach “tract” than a source of income. But nevertheless there are now 2,500 copies of it being read around the world. I believe that the message contained in my new book is something that God will use to touch, encourage and change hearts in these last days; and I feel that this true story will be even more convicting than a movie like “Fireproof”.
The cost to publish this book is $4,000. and then $5.00 per book for every book that I purchase to sell or give away once it’s in print. If you would like to support this worthwhile project, there will be a “sponsor” page inside the front cover, listing all of the businesses, churches and families who make a donation of any size to the production of this book. I have just started the process of having it published and I plan to follow through with it whether I get help from sponsors or not. It never hurts to ask since the bible says: “You Have Not Because You Ask Not”.
